@doreenashpole Did you mean to attach a screenshot to that post?

@doreenashpole You haven't given us any indication of what it is that pops up on your iPhone. If you can send us a screenshot, that would be great. Alternatively, I suggest you bring it up at the next meeting when there will, no doubt, be several people who may be able to help.

@philbass attached screenshot of Notification from Santander which I am convinced is not legit.

had it several times.  Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

@doreenashpole On Apple devices, you can control which notifications are displayed by which apps and how they are presented. If you bank with Santander and have their app on your phone, you probably just need to go into System Settings, tap Notifications, scroll down to the Santander app and adjust the settings to your taste. Otherwise, we should consider whether your phone has been infected by some sort of virus.

My guess is that this won't turn out to be anything to worry about, but if you are going to join us at the next Digital Skills meeting, I would bring it up then.

@evelynhatcher Hi Evelyn,

Subscriptions in the forum mean you get notified via email when someone adds or replies to a topic.

There are checkboxes in several places in the Forum that allow you to subscribe.  At the bottom of the Reply section on this page you can see an example of one.

When you reply to a post you usually get subsribed to it automatically.  It is possible in the past you replied to something and got automatically subscribed or accidentally activated one of these checkboxes.

There is also a link at the top of this page labelled 'Subscribe for new replies' you may have accidentally tapped on one of these.

Another possibility is that you have the options to automatically subscribe in your Forum Profile.  At the top any Forum page is a bar containing an item labelled My Profile.  If you tap/click on that you will get to your Forum Profile where you can manage various things including Subscriptions.

I have attached a screenshot of the Subscriptions section of my profile page. There are a couple of checkboxes, which allow you to enable or disable automatic subscriptions.  Below that is a list where you can manage automatic subscriptions for specific areas of the forum.  Basically if you don't want to be subscribed to anything automatically make sure all the checkboxes are cleared and click the Update Subscriptions button.  After that you will only be subscribed to specific topics you enable the 'Subscribe to this topic' checkbox.
